Casual Shopping In Colaba Causeway.

Sorry Everybody !!!

My fashion posts took a backseat as i got so engrossed updating my travel and recipe posts. I am so sorry for that. but then as it always goes " its never too late than never ". So as i promised to tag my husband this time and help me in carrying my shopping bags ( hope he never comes across this post ). But jokes apart, today i am going to explore colaba causeway.

Colaba causeway , also known as Shahid Bhagat Singh road is a commercial street. Colaba causeway is very close to mumbai's gateway of india and taj mahal palace & tower. Its one of mumbai's popular place for street shopping. ( and my personal favourite ). Here you will find shops ranging from footwear, ethnic jewellery, apparels , antiques. This street also boasts of some amazing and oldest eateries in the city. And you would only be a fool if you don't try the restaurants and cafes out here. And i am not a fool that way.

Since it was a holiday and we woke up late in the morning ; by the time we reached colaba causeway, it was already lunch time. And for some active shopping i needed to to gather some energy .  And to me food=energy. So we headed to one of the oldest mughlai restaurant in colaba that is delhi darbar. You have to taste the food to believe its flavours. Unfortunately i din have any pic featuring its name . ( image source : google ).

From here we went for some shopping and got instantly charged up looking at the collection. Not only the street shops , even the small outlets in the area moderately charged their items. This was the first shop we entered as a big hoarding of sale upto 50% was displayed right outside the shop which caught my attention. Only if i had known i would start my own blog, i would have definitely taken pics displaying its name. ( image source : google )

The kind of shoes that were on sale were good enough . Generally we have this notion that things put up for sale are not good enough but this false myth of yours will get a check looking at the collection that were up for sale. Without any further delay i picked up this pair of wooden soled platform. It cost me around 900 bucks. Platforms can be worn with jeans , skirts , shorts , jumpers , jeggings , dresses and so on. The reason i purchased platform heels : 1) fashion & 2) added height.

Yellow colored shoes are very much in fashoin these days, so when i saw one , i quickly picked it up. Flat heels are very comfortable especially if you are a walker. This cost me 700 bucks. So if you are in mumbai and not up for some expensive shoes. then you can always head upto metro outlet in colaba (opposite to hotel delhi darbar ).

Now it was time for some comfortable sleepers that you can wear at home. After navigating a few street shops , i just fell in love with this bow-shaped pink slippers . It cost me just 150 bucks. With this i put an end to my footwear collection.

After this we were just scrolling up and down the street , and suddenly i spotted a very small shop " PAX " , ( near cafe mondegar ) ; and it was so narrow a few people in the shop made it look overcrowded. But it had some amazing collection. The reason i entered this shop was this dress hanging outside. ( do not mind those creases ; like i said my wardrobe is a total mess ).

Have a closer look at the stitch work. this stich work is just below your neckline. The fabric is pure cotton and its a very comfy dress.

The lower portion too is densely stitched in cotton threads giving it somewhat a fairy look. This dress cost me 500 bucks.

This shop has immense collection , that clothes are dumped all around the shop ; you have to make your way through them. While doing so i bumped into a heaped section of tops and the obvious. This was the one i picked up.

I so loved the heart shaped print on it.  Have a closer look. Its a transparent top . It cost me 300 bucks. The only problem with this shop was that there was no trial room. But you can always overlook that.

By this time my husband was all tired waiting , and we decided to freshen ourselves up and thats why we went to none other than mumbai's oldest "Leopold Cafe & BAR ". Be careful while you order your food here , as their quantity is huge. Its a good thing but just that the food might get wasted. It remains crowded all the time as a result of which ; we had to move uptairs. There is a difference in between upstairs & downstairs. Let me keep that a secret for you to find it out yourself when you are there.  ( image source : google ).

With this i end my street shopping here in colaba . So next time when you are in mumbai , you know where to go right ?? Ofcourse you do !!!! I will be back with some more crazy street shopping in some other part of the country. Till then bye !!! See ya !!!

  1. Nice post. Colaba is a bustling district packed with street stalls, markets, resto-bars and various lodging facilities. This is the one place in Mumbai which seems like a carnival the entire year. For various travellers and tourist visiting Mumbai every year, there are plenty of hotels in Mumbai offering comfortable accommodation.
